The European Union called on the Israeli government to abandon the plan to annex lands in the occupied West Bank, because it constitutes a clear violation of international law.
In a letter sent by the Office of the High Representative of the European Union to the General Union of Palestinian Communities in Europe, in response to the latter´s message regarding the occupation plan to annex the Jordan Valley and parts of the West Bank, the Union urged "Israel to refrain from any unilateral decision that would lead to the annexation of any Palestinian land" Occupied, which is in breach of international law. "
In its letter, the union affirmed that it would not recognize any changes to the 1967 borders, unless the Israelis and Palestinians agreed to do so.
He said, "The European Union reaffirmed at the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva that any annexation is illegal under international law.
He stressed that he will continue to closely monitor developments on the ground, and will consider further measures to protect the principle of a two-state solution, support negotiations between the two parties, to resolve all final status issues, and achieve a just and lasting peace.
The European Union pledged to continue to support efforts to revive the political process in line with international law, which guarantees equal rights and is acceptable to both parties, and to work with them and with actors in the region and all international partners to achieve this goal.
