US Senator Bernie Sanders, withdrawing from the US presidential elections, said Saturday that he opposes the illegal annexation plan for any part of the West Bank, and that this plan must stop.
This came in a recorded televised speech broadcast on Rabin Square to thousands of demonstrators from the Green Line and activists from the Israeli left, in refusal to annex, and to demand an end to the occupation.
Sanders said: "In these difficult days for Israel, America and other countries in the world, there has never been a more important period than this in the struggle for justice and the struggle for the future we all deserve."
He added: "It is heartening to see many of you, Arabs and Jews alike, standing together this evening for peace, justice and democracy."
He continued: "I want you to know that you are not alone .. There are millions of people around the world who support these fundamental human values ​​.. These relate to all of us to stand against dictators, and to build a common future for peace for every Palestinian and every Israeli."
He continued: "I, like you, believe that the future of the Palestinians and the Israelis depends on one another, as your children deserve to live in security, in freedom and equality."
The US Senator stressed the need to stop the annexation scheme, which he described as "illegal", and that the occupation must be ended.
He said: "We must work together to build a future for equality and dignity for all citizens of Israel and Palestine."
He added: "I know that on the day when we will celebrate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, this will be done thanks to people like you ... who fought for justice ... fought for democracy ... and fought for human rights."
And he recalled the words of the head of the Joint Arab List, Ayman Awda, "The only future we have is a common future that we will build together."
He added: "I understand that I am speaking on behalf of many here in the United States ... when I tell you, I am in solidarity with you."
Thousands of internal Palestinians and Israeli left activists protested, on Saturday night, in the Rabin Square area in Tel Aviv, rejecting the Israeli annexation plan for the Palestinian territories, and in support of peace between the two sides.
The march in which the Palestinian flag was hoisted, along with anti-occupation slogans and racism, a number of streets surrounding Rabin Square, in the midst of an intense presence of the Israeli police.
The participants returned slogans condemning the occupation and its crimes against the Palestinians, in addition to denouncing the crime of the execution of the martyr Iyad Al-Hallaq who uploaded his photos, and the killing of the American black man George Floyd at the hands of the American police, noting that these crimes are the same and fall under the American-Israeli racism.
