Chinese Foreign Minister confirms his country´s rejection of the Israeli annexation plan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed on Sunday that his country rejected the Israeli annexation plan for parts of the Palestinian territories, as it contravenes international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

In a message he sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Maliki, the Chinese minister, in response to his message about the occupation state´s announcement of its decision to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank, said that his country urges the Israeli side to refrain from taking any step that would escalate the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and also urges The United States also has to take a responsible attitude toward the history and long-term interests of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.

He added that his country supports the Palestinian proposal, which was mentioned in Minister Al-Maliki’s message about holding an international peace conference in order to provide a driving force for the crisis of peace negotiations.

The Chinese minister reaffirmed his country´s steadfast stance in support of the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the borders of the year 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed that China stands in unison with Palestine and all peace-loving countries in the world to maintain the two-state solution and the relevant United Nations resolutions and the principle of land for peace, the Arab peace initiative and other international references and consensus, and that China is pushing both sides to quickly return on this basis to the right track Of settling differences through dialogue and consultation on an equal footing.
