British MPs demand that Israel be punished if it includes West Bank areas

130 British lawmakers sent a message to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, demanding that they impose economic sanctions on Israel if it includes areas in the West Bank.

The letter was signed by former ministers of the Conservative Party, former Chairman of the Conservative Party Lord Patten, and former Minister of International Development Andrew Mitchell, according to the newspaper "The Guardian" on Friday evening.

The letter considered that the annexation of parts of the West Bank "is illegal in international law," and that "any Israeli move in the West Bank must receive a similar response."

The signatories to the letter, initiated by the Council for the Promotion of Arab-British Understanding, expressed their anger at the Israeli government´s announcement of plans to annex parts of the West Bank, describing it as a "fatal blow to peace opportunities between Israelis and Palestinians based on a two-state solution."
