Israel decides to build 1900 new settlement units in the West Bank

The Israeli army minister, Naftali Bennett, decided to build 1,900 new settlement units in the West Bank.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said today, Friday, that Bennett instructed the so-called Higher Committee for Civil Administration in the West Bank to approve a plan to build more than 1,900 units in several settlements in the West Bank.

"The committee is scheduled to meet next Wednesday to approve this plan," she added.

"Today, we are working and not waiting, we will not hand over even an inch of land to Arabs, and in order to achieve this goal we must build," Bennett said Friday.

The decision comes less than two weeks before the Israeli elections, scheduled for March 2.

The international community considers settlement in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, illegal.
