"Israel" approved on Wednesday the construction of 1,300 settlement units in the West Bank

A report of the left-wing Israeli Peace Now movement said Monday that the so-called Supreme Council for Planning of the Israeli Civil Administration will approve on Wednesday a plan to build 1,300 settlement units.

According to the report, which was published by the Hebrew Channel Seven, the most prominent of it, hundreds of units will be built in the settlement of Eli near Ramallah, and a plan to establish an industrial zone near the "Shomer Samaria" between Salfit and Qalqilya, and expand the settlement of Yitzhar near Nablus.

A park, car park and 120 hotel rooms will be established in the heart of the Jordan Valley.

The organization considered this step as encouraging construction in settlements deep in the West Bank before the elections, in a political move aimed at exacerbating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict rather than moving forward with peace.

The leftist organization called on the Israeli leadership to stop serving the vision of the Israeli right and immediately freeze all construction, as a confidence-building step for political negotiations.
