Five civilians were killed and more than 20 others injured tuesday as a result of the continued Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since 4:30 a.m., which began with the assassination of Bahaa Abu al-Atta, a leader of the "Al-Quds Brigades", the military wing of the Islamic Jihad.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the martyrs were Bahaa Abu al-Atta, 42, and his wife Asma Abu al-Atta, 39, who were shelled inside their home in the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City at dawn.
The occupying forces claimed that Abu al-Atta was planning serious attacks and that he had been assassinated on a security and military recommendation. Accusing him of trying to sabotage the lull with Hamas, and of being behind repeated rocket fire in recent weeks and months.
Mohammed Attia Hammouda, 20, was killed in Israeli shelling in the northern Gaza Strip.
Zaki Ghannam, in his 20s, was later declared dead by a group of citizens in the northern Gaza Strip, and Ibrahim Ahmed Abdul Latif al-Tabous, 26, was killed.
At least 20 citizens were injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting several targets in the Gaza Strip, including at least 6 injured in targeted assassination attempts by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft, who the occupation claimed were trying to fire rockets at Israeli-populated towns and cities.
Large Palestinian crowds, the bodies of the martyrs, were mourned amid shouts of anger calling on the resistance to respond and not to pay attention to the attempts to establish the state of calm that existed.
The Palestinian factions condemned the assassination as a serious crime in which it was an attack on the red lines, affirming the right of the resistance to respond to that crime.
The resistance has fired more than 100 rockets since the dawn of the day, hitting various Israeli cities and settlements, one of the most prominent of which hit Tel Aviv more than once, the Mudiain settlement near Jerusalem, Ashdod and other cities.
The rockets injured more than 40 Israelis, the majority of them slightly, and the others in panic as they tried to reach the shelters.
Several cars, buses and houses of settlers were damaged by continued shelling by the Palestinian resistance.
Israeli warplanes attacked several Palestinian resistance positions, agricultural land and empty areas, causing extensive damage.
The Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip coincided with another attack targeting the home of Islamic Jihad leader Akram al-Ajouri in the Al-Mazzah neighborhood of Damascus, resulting in the death of his son Moaz, a Syrian citizen, Hassan Abdullah, and the injury of a number of people, including members of the Al-Ajouri family.
The Islamic Jihad vowed to continue to respond to these crimes, asserting its right to respond and paying the price for the occupation.
